Mr. Floyd E. Wilson, Jr. is the founder and President of Floyd E. Wilson, Jr. & Associates, LLC, which provides direct business development assistance to Small, Local, Minority, and Veteran Owned Businesses.

 

Trials Courts Judicial Nominating Commission District 13

Appointed by Governor Lawrence J. Hogan to serve on this commission for the Circuit and District Court Judges Appointments for Prince George's County.

Prince George’s Community College Board of Trustees

Appointed by former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley in July 2013 and re-appointed by Governor Lawrence J. Hogan.

Presently serves on these notable Boards in Prince George's County

Prince George's State Bank

The first Black controlled bank in Maryland; he was one of the founders and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors

Daycare Centers

Former owner and operator of three (3) Daycare Centers; established and operated numerous daycare centers (religious and private) in Prince George’s County, Maryland

 

Political Career

Mr. Wilson was elected three (3) times to the Glenarden City Council and served as former Vice Mayor and Chairman of the City Council.

 

His political career at the County level began in 1974 when he was appointed as the first African American on the Prince George’s County Council.  He was elected and re-elected four (4) times to the County Council.  He was Chair and Vice Chair on several occasions to the County Council.

U.S. Congressman Parren Mitchell, Baltimore, Maryland, commissioned former Maryland State Senator Decatur Trotter and Councilman Floyd E. Wilson, Jr. to return to Prince George’s County and establish a Minority Business Program at the State and County level.


While serving on the Prince George’s County Council, Mr. Wilson introduced the first Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Initiative for the purpose of: (1) establishing a goal that 10% of County purchase contracts shall be with economically disadvantaged minority businesses; and (2) providing that Contracts in excess of $5,000.00 shall be procured by competitive bidding.

Served as a former member of Prince George’s Women’s Commission, Board of Directors of Washington, D. C. Council of Governments (COG) and the COG Public Safety Policy Committee.

He was the former Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Air Quality Planning Committee for the State of Maryland.  He is the former member of the Commission for the Reorganization of Washington’s National and Dulles International Airports, the Governor’s Special Commission on Professional Sports and the Economy for the State of Maryland.  He also served as a member of the Baltimore/Washington International Airport Development Council.


He is married to Dorothy Lyons Wilson and he has three (3) children: Keith, Tanya and Derryck, Sr. from a previous marriage and a stepdaughter, Karen Mingo.

Dorothy "Dot" Wilson - Biography

Vice-President / CEO

Dorothy “Dot” Wilson is Vice President and CEO, Floyd E. Wilson, Jr. & Associates, LLC  and is responsible for oversight and direction of the day-to-day operations, business strategy and growth of our business.

U.S. Census Bureau, Census 2010 

Served as a Partnership Specialist reporting to the Philadelphia Regional Office and was initially responsible for nine (9) counties in the State of Maryland (central and southern Prince George’s County, Charles, Calvert, St. Mary’s, Dorchester, Wicomico, Somerset and Worcester). Responsible for developing partnerships with state, local, and tribal governments, community-based organizations, faith-based groups; schools; media outlets, businesses and grassroots entities in communities in the region.  Provided support to Census field operations such as Recruitment, Be Counted, Questionnaire Assistance Centers, Non-Response Follow-up and others.  Conducted research, analyzed the regional office area, and assisted in the development of the regional plan for the Census.

U. S. Census Bureau, Census 2000  

Served as a Decennial Specialist  - Headquarters, Suitland, Maryland. Traveled all over the U.S. (Florida, New York, Texas, California, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Seattle, Washington and Ohio) promoting Census 2000 and exhibiting at large religious and community based conferences and conventions. Negotiated partnership agreements with high level officials in private industry and the faith-based community.

U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)
Served as a Program Analyst GS 13 responsible for providing oversight and direction in the Office of Program Operations (OPO) responsible for drafting policies, standards, and operating procedures for Fair Employment and Practices Agencies (FEPAs) and Tribal Employment Rights Organizations (TEROs).  Effectively communicated advice, counsel, and guidance to the Equal Employment Specialists in the Region and Tribes. Interpreted existing and proposed legislation and regulations as it related to the commission.  Evaluated, assessed and interpreted equal employment opportunity data from FEPAs and TEROs to determine if they were in compliance with their contracts. Prepared position descriptions for Trial Attorneys, General Attorneys, paralegals, Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist, Investigators, Personnel Specialist, Recruitment and Staffing Specialist, Program Analysts, Management Specialist and more. 

In addition, served as a Position Classification Specialist, Recruitment and Staffing Specialist in the Office of Personnel responsible for conducting Position Management Reviews for Headquarters and Region III (West Coast).

Detailed to Vice President Al Gore’s National Performance Review (NPR)

Served as a Policy Analyst responsible for streamlining Federal regulations, policies and procedures.

Prince George’s County Office of Community Relations 
Represented Office of County Executive at public events, gave remarks on behalf of the County Executive and served on the Staffing Team for the County Executive; planned, organized and coordinated activities between civic associations; performed a wide variety of complex customer service work involving requests for information from the County Executive’s Office; worked with department heads throughout the resolution process; investigated and researched complex inquiries from elected officials at the local, state and Federal levels.
